The Big Apple

We are back from a fantastic trip to New York and are finally shaking off a mighty case of jet lag.

As always, our visit was crammed with family, activity, excitement, walking, more walking, and a little more walking.  And, as always, we didn't come close to seeing all the people we'd love to see or hit all the sights.  Such is New York - so much to do, see, love and so little time.

Speaking of walking, I am the only person who could spend 6 hours a day wandering the city and still manage to gain weight.  When visiting, I feel compelled to sample as many of the local delicacies as possible, with nostalgia overriding any faint sense of restraint or urgent signals of fullness.   Attractive, I know, but with visits spaced at roughly eighteen month intervals, I have to get it while I can.

One thing I can never get enough of is Central Park, my most favorite place.

Following a month of non-stop rain, it was a cool, green oasis in the center of a teeming city...

offering chances to commune with the local wildlife...

roll down a green lawn...

or stroll under shady canopies.

More pictures to follow.... The top shot shows the view from our suite (!) at The Waldorf-Astoria, where CB took me to celebrate my birthday, in style.  The ensuite alone was bigger than the apartment we rented.  Very decadent!
