Sunday, cold and bleak, began with the promise of a cozy lunch with incredibly generous friends.
We were greeted with champagne and canapes of caramelized onion, bacon, goat's cheese, fig and pesto, piled high atop homemade puff pastry. Divine.
Oh my.
Accompanied by a salad of warm mushrooms, a green salad with goat's cheese, and lovely wine.
Followed by Rhubarb and Pear Crumble, with cream. CB went back for seconds. I wasn't up to the challenge, but not for want of trying.
And then, just as I was slipping into the most delightful food daze, WB slipped into the pool.
Fully clothed.
In the middle of winter.
Dream over.
But the memory of Bejewelled Lamb, soon to be making an appearance on my table, lingers.
